Buying an Engagement Ring

17 Sep 2017

So you’re thinking about popping “the question”, but you’re not sure what the price tag should be?

The general rule of thumb is that at least 1 to 3 months salary should be spent on an engagement ring. But can we really put a price tag on love?

Finding the perfect ring is a matter of finding the perfect stone. Okay maybe not the “perfect” stone, but something close to it.

When shopping for an engagement ring, remember the 4 Cs of Diamonds (carat, cut, color and clarity). Maybe you cannot afford to spend 3 months salary on an engagement ring, but you still want to get something brilliant and memorable. Remember that a good cut can make your diamond look larger than it actually is. Also, diamond prices tend to peak at the whole carat marks. Settling for a diamond just under the whole carat mark can save you a few hundreds, furthermore size difference is almost unnoticeable. Choosing a setting with more than one stone can help alleviate cost. Buying a carat worth of smaller diamonds and setting them into a multiple stone setting may actually cost lower than buying one 1 carat stone.

Choosing the perfect engagement ring, can leave you stressed! Choose something that comes from the heart. Choose a ring that reminds you of her, symbolizes your relationship.
